Chimera and Online Gaming to Reap Rewards from Two Recent Landmark Decisions

LAS VEGAS, Apr 18, 2005 -- Chimera Technology Corp. (Chimera) (Pink Sheets: CNOC)(http://www.chimeratechnology.com), a developer/licensor of TURN-KEY online gaming platforms, is pleased to announce that two major developments have taken place within the online gaming industry which further reinforce the legitimacy of online gaming operators and their operations as an acceptable mainstream form of entertainment.
The British House of Lords approved the "Gambling Bill" which will, for the first time ever, legally allow online casino operators to operate out of the United Kingdom. The Gambling Bill, which overhauls Britain's outdated gaming regulations, was passed by Parliament and became law late last week.
In addition, the World Trade Organization (WTO) appellate body upheld a ruling in favor of Antigua in its trade dispute with the United States regarding cross-border online gambling. The WTO panel advised that the United States should bring its federal laws governing remote gambling into conformity with its obligations under the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS). In essence, the WTO decision puts pressure on the United States to adjust its laws in favor of online gaming operators.
The decisions recently passed by the British House of Lords and the World Trade Organization are both clear and unambiguous regarding their support for online gaming. Both of these highly visible institutions carry an incredible amount of weight globally and have the ability to influence the legitimization of online gaming around the globe.
As online gaming becomes more mainstream, it is anticipated that the amount of online players will start to increase exponentially. Established online gaming operators in the industry stand to gain the most from these landmark decisions. Being one of those established players, Chimera stands to reap the benefits of these decisions going forward.
Chimera president Ken Chua stated, "The ramifications of these two decisions passed by the British House of Lords and the WTO are far reaching and will have an incredibly positive effect on the future of online gaming. Britain has legally acknowledged the legitimacy of online gaming and the United States is being shoved in that direction by the WTO." Chua added, "This bodes very well for Chimera as we have already established ourselves as one of the leaders in this industry, and anything that helps the industry indirectly helps Chimera and its licensees."
